Day 1: Cairns to Cape Tribulation

In the morning, you will be collected from your accommodation by our travel partner Billy Tea Safaris. Travel north along the scenic route to Mossman. Lush farmland contrasts with seascape as we approach the majestic Daintree River. After a short morning tea break, it’s ‘all aboard’ for an informative one-hour river cruise. Relax and enjoy the splendour that only the Daintree can offer as you learn about Estuarine Crocodiles, mangrove forests and wildlife. The tour ascends the Alexandra Range for a panoramic view of World Heritage Tropical Rainforest merging with the azure colours of the Coral Sea. Experience the rainforest intimately on an elevated National Park Boardwalk. Your experienced guide will take you on a wonderful journey through this ancient rainforest whilst giving you interpretation of flora and fauna. You will have ample time for photographs and questions as we search for the elusive, rare and totally unique Southern Cassowary and other wildlife species within this habitat. The tour continues on towards Cape Tribulation and stops for lunch at a restaurant which is also an animal refuge centre. Here you will have the chance to hand-feed the Wallabies, get up close to the Eclectus Parrots, Pythons and other native wildlife. Enjoy a delicious barbecue lunch with freshly prepared salads in a beautiful rainforest setting before continuing on to Emmagen Creek at the start of the Bloomfield Track. You have the opportunity here for a refreshing rainforest swim as well as refreshments of tropical fruit and a cup of traditional Billy Tea. You will be taken to your overnight accommodation in Cape Tribulation for afternoon an evening at your leisure. Overnight: Cape Tribulation Beach House

      Day 2: Cooktown

This morning at 10:30 am you will be met at your accommodation by Adventure North Australia guide where your journey will continue to Cooktown – the Last Frontier of North Queensland. Your experienced guide will enlighten your journey with fascinating stories and history along the famous 4WD- only Bloomfield Track, the site of one of Australia’s biggest environmental protests. Next stop is the Bana Yirriji Art and Cultural Centre, Wujal Wujal, which is located on the banks of the Bloomfield River. Here, you will have the opportunity to visit and talk with local Indigenous artists before lunch. Our journey continues north to the infamous Lions Den Hotel, one of Queensland’s landmark pubs, built in 1875, made of timber and iron. Then it’s a short distance to see the unique geological oddity, “Black Mountain”; one of Australia’s most restricted habitats for endemic fauna, shrouded in mystery and spoken of in Aboriginal legend. You will arrive in historic Cooktown in the early afternoon where we visit Grassy Hill for panoramic views of Cooktown, the Coral Sea and Endeavour River. Be sure to have your camera ready! Optional Extra: 2-hour Sunset Cruise with Riverbend Tours Departs 5 pm from Cooktown Boat Ramp Experience the Endeavour River at the most beautiful time of day with Riverbend Tours. Explore the harbour in the long afternoon light before heading upstream to watch the sunset over the distant ranges. While navigating the maze of smaller creeks, enjoy a complimentary gourmet cheese platter. After dark, spotlights add a whole new perspective to the impenetrable walls of mangrove trees that line the river. Hear stories about the glory days of the gold rush when Cooktown was the gateway to the frontier. This sunset cruise is a wonderful way to end your day of exploring.
