On this 2 day tour, you will spend the night in historical Cooktown. We take lunch at Black Mountain, Grassy Hill Lookout.
Over two days, you will travel through some of Australia’s most pristine landscapes of the Daintree Rainforest and Outback Savannah Country.

Itinerary
Our journey begins by making our way north through the World Heritage listed Daintree Rainforest. Cross the Daintree River & marvel at the magic of the world’s oldest rainforest. Enjoy a tasty morning tea on the renowned Cape Tribulation Beach. Your guide will share fascinating stories & history as you travel along the famous 4WD- only Bloomfield Track before our stop at the iconic Lions Den Hotel.
Once we arrive in Cooktown, visit Grassy Hill for amazing panoramic views of Cooktown, the Coral Sea & Endeavour River. Learn fascinating history on the driver/guided town tour before we take you to your accommodation for the evening [Dinner at own expense]. [L]
Overnight: 1 night accommodation in Cooktown
Today we explore Cooktown, our first stop is the Heritage listed Cooktown Cemetery which bears testimony to the diverse nationalities who came to Cooktown and the Palmer Goldfields in the late 19th century. Visit the James Cook Museum for a guided tour and see an original anchor and cannon from Cook’s HMB Endeavour amongst many of the interesting exhibits.
Next visit the Cooktown Botanic Gardens and enjoy a driver/guided walk viewing many of the same plants collected by botanists, Sir Joseph Banks and Daniel Solander, as well as plants traditionally used by the local Aboriginal people. Relax at Nature’s Powerhouse café, art gallery and Visitor Information Centre.
Travelling the Mulligan Highway, we briefly stop at Black Mountain, Byerstown Range lookout and the Palmer River Roadhouse. The outback landscape is dotted with termite mounds and many different eucalypt species. Keep an eye out for livestock that graze along the roadside before we return you to your accommodation. [L]

Children aged 3 and younger are not allowed. You must be able to walk on unpaved or uneven terrain. If you have limited mobility, you should not take part. At least 4 people are required for this activity to take place. Maximum group size is 16 people. Hotel pick-up is available from most centrally located Cairns and Port Douglas hotels. Please arrange pick-up from your hotel or a nearby location when you call to confirm your reservation. Pick-up begins at 6:30 AM in Cairns and 8 AM in Port Douglas. You will receive confirmation of your exact tour departure time when you call to confirm your reservation. Please be ready and waiting in the lobby of your hotel 15–30 minutes prior to the booked start time.
