    Perfect if you are backpacking in Australia and looking for a guided tour on the East Coast with a small group of like-minded travellers.

    Accommodation on this epic East Coast guided tour will be mostly hostels. You will stay in Tents on Fraser Island and two nights on a boat in the ocean as you sail the Whitsundays. We use multi-share rooms at the hostels, so you will stay with others on tour. Most have wi-fi and laundry facilities. Our hostels in Surfers Paradise, Airlie Beach, Mission Beach, and Cairns even have a swimming pool! So good!

    If this is your first time visiting Australia this tour is great for you. Start your adventure in Sydney with a few days of exploring, getting to know your group, and an excellent guide. Then you head north as we leave Sydney and head up to Byron Bay, the ideal spot for surfing and Yoga!

    Then it’s time for Surfers Paradise, famous for its great nightlife and party atmosphere. K’Gari is our next destination, Fraser Island. Head over to Australia’s island made of sand for a few days of 4WD action.

    This action-packed East Coast adventure also includes 2 nights on board the most exclusive boat in the Whitsundays. Relax and sunbathe on the deck or snorkel the reef. Plus we have stand-up paddle boards if you fancy being a bit more active as we sail the 74 islands of the Whitsundays.

      Day 1 - 3: Arrive in Sydney

      After landing in Sydney you’ll jump on an included airport transfer to our hostel where you’ll meet the rest of your travel crew. We have 2 days to explore the stunning harbour city with plenty of time to check out some iconic beaches and explore the best of Sydney before we start our East Coast adventure north! (L, D)

      Day 4- 6: Surfs up!

      We’ll spend 3 nights in the beautiful and famous surf town of Byron Bay. You’ll learn to surf with Aussie surfer dudes, relax and unwind with some morning yoga and experience a beautiful sunrise walk to Cape Byron Lighthouse. (B, D)

      Day 7 - 8: Beaches and Parties!

      Experience the best of the iconic Surfers Paradise. Explore the city, party the night away and then work on your tan on one of the seemingly endless white sand beaches of this famous piece of Aussie coastline. (B)

      Day 9-10: Brisbane

      Explore the highlights of Queensland’s capital, chill out at the only city man-made beach in Australia called ‘The Lagoon’ and then head up the beautiful Mount Coot-tha for a sunset BBQ overlooking Brisbane. (B, D)

      Day 11- 14: K'Gari

      Discover the Aussie holiday favourite Noosa, famous for its laidback lifestyle and stunning beaches. We’ll kick back beach-side before heading to one of the absolute highlights on the East Coast of Australia – Fraser Island! You’ll get to drive your own 4×4’s around the biggest sand island in the world. The beach and sand dunes are your highway for the next 3 days. Swim in the incredible turquoise waters of Lake McKenzie, float down the lazy river of Eli Creek, get a 360 degree view of Fraser Island from Indian Heads Lookout, chill in the bubbles of the Champagne Pools, learn about the Aboriginal history on the island, spot dingoes in the wild, and then sleep beneath the stars in a private, exclusive campsite with your group. Arriving back in Noosa, we’ll explore the idyllic coastline on our way to the Instagram-worthy Fairy Pools. (2B, 2L, 2D)

      Day 16- 20: Whitsunday Islands

      Enjoy some free time at the beachfront lagoon in Airlie Beach before discovering another absolute must do on the East Coast – the stunning Whitsundays. Made up of 74 tropical islands, we’ll board our boat for the next 2 nights. Relax and sunbathe on
      the massive deck as we sail to the outer parts of the Great Barrier Reef. Snorkel with an abundance of marine life on the fringing reefs and try your hand at stand up paddleboarding. Later you’ll get to explore the amazing swirls of fine white sand on the world-famous Whitehaven Beach. (2B, 2L 2D)

      Day 21- 22: Magnetic Island

      Today we’ll jump on the ferry to a slice of tropical paradise – Magnetic Island. Over the next 2 days you’ll stay in beachfront huts while you explore the best of this magical Island. Chill out in your ocean front hammock, hire a car and explore the hidden beaches and hike up the historic Forts Walk. If you’re lucky you’ll even spot wild koalas and rock wallabies. (B, D)

      Day 23- 24: Mission Beach

      Time to relax in the chilled-out beachfront town of Mission Beach, before choosing an adrenaline-pumping experience this tiny town is known for. If you‘ve ever thought of skydiving this is the place! Jump at 15,000ft and soak up views of both the Great Barrier Reef and rainforests before landing on the beach. White water raft grade 3 and 4 rapids of the Tully River through a specular gorge surrounded by World Heritage Rainforest.

      Day 25- 28: Cairns

      Cairns is the ultimate backpacker adventure hub. Here you’ll tick off a massive bucket list item and experience a full day on the Great Barrier Reef in a very special way. You’ll get to help save one of the most delicate and beautiful natural eco-systems in the world when you become a marine biologist for the day. Assist a master reef guide in the conservation and preservation of this World Heritage Site. You’ll also snorkel and sail the Great Barrier Reef and visit 2 unique outer reef locations.
      While in Cairns we’ll also explore the real Aussie oasis of the Atherton Tablelands. You’ll swim under epic waterfalls, slide down natural rock slides and swim in dormant volcano craters all while your experienced guide teaches you about this extraordinary place. Tonight we wrap things up with a farewell dinner and drinks to toast the incredible adventures we’ve had together.
      Your epic Aussie adventure comes to an end in Cairns on the morning of day 28. If you need help with onward travel or work in Oz we are here to help for the rest of your time in Australia. (B, 2L, D)

      • You need a visa to enter Australia. Most people who do East Coast Adventure are on either a Working Holiday Visa (WHV) or Tourist Visa. A WHV is available to those aged 18 – 30 from the UK and many other European nations and 18 – 35 if you’re from Canada or Ireland. Working Holiday Visa.
      When should I arrive for this tour?

      It’s best to arrive on the actual start date as there’s no activities on day one. If you do arrive in Sydney before your start date we will still organise your airport transfer and book you into the hostel from the day you arrive. Extra nights cost approx. £25 / $40 AUD per night for a dorm room and can be pre-paid with your agent or direct with us.

      Can I travel alone on this East Coast tour?

      Yes. Lots of people on our trips are traveling solo. But by doing our trip you’ll instantly be part of a group, so it’s a great way to meet others and make friends!
