Arrival guide to Darwin

The perfect place to take one of our unforgettable Kakadu tour from Darwin. We have only THE best 1 Day Kakadu and Multiday Kakadu National Park Tours from Darwin.

The tropical city of Darwin is Australia’s northernmost capital city. It’s a city that likes its outlaw status for doing things a bit differently to the rest of Australia.

It has a tough past after being bombed in World War 2 and being virtually flattened by a cyclone in 1974. The isolation has instilled a tough exterior yet it is a very inclusive place. Cultures seem to have historically blended here. There’s been a need for mutual self-reliance.

There’s a distinct green or wet season here (November-March) and the dry season of (April-October). Most people travel here in the dry season when the humidity lowers and access and travel to tourist sites in the Litchfield and Kakadu National Parks improves.

Best time to visit Kakadu

Darwin is the perfect point at which to enter Australia, especially if you are traveling overland or via Asia. It’s so close to Bali, Indonesia, and indeed the entire city echoes the cultures and climate of Australia more so than the other southern cities of Australia.
