3 Night Ultimate Kakadu Experience

This Ultimate Kakadu Experience includes Safari Bungalow accommodation with eco-friendly ensuite, chef-prepared meals, as well as daily guided wilderness safaris which may include airboat tours, quad bike adventures, open-top 4WD safaris, river cruises and wilderness walks.

Bamurru Plains is located on Swim Creek Station, a 303 sq km coastal buffalo pastoral property near Point Stuart in the Mary River Region. The property encompasses a variety of habitat including vast river frontage, coastal floodplains, savannah woodland, and paperbark swamps. The station is 10 km from Kakadu National Park’s western boundary (100km from Jabiru in Kakadu) and just over 100 km east of Darwin.

Bamurru Plains, a Wild Bush Luxury property in Australia’s Top End, provides guests with an extraordinary wildlife experience on 300km2 of private land. Located just to the west of Kakadu National Park and known as Australia’s answer to the Okavango Delta, Bamurru Plains allows up to 20 guests to enjoy exclusive access to miles of the Sampan River, the coast and the Mary River Floodplain system.

A profusion of bird and wildlife are on the doorstep of this unique bush camp and with only 10 safari-style bungalows, the focus of a stay at Bamurru is on the environment and the creatures for whom it is home. Each safari bungalow overlooks the floodplain and with mesh walls on three sides guests hear, see and almost touch the wildlife and wilderness around them, waking to the call of the magpie geese as the orange light of dawn spreads across the floodplains.

The range of guided experiences on offer (weather dependant) includes skimming across the floodplains by airboat, fishing, spotting crocs from the river boat and viewing the agile wallaby and buffalo on a open-top safaris. Other signature experiences include a Treetop sleep out in The Hide.

A stay at Bamurru Plains is bound to inspire a greater awareness of Australia’s unique and specialised environment while our ‘Wild Bush Luxury’ style ensures a truly comfortable stay.

      Itinerary

      Day 1- 3

Spend three immersive days at Bamurru Plains with one full day exploring World Heritage Listed Kakadu National Park.

Immerse yourself in the stone country of Kakadu and one of Australia’s greatest strongholds of Aboriginal rock art and culture. Just a short hop by light aircraft across the river systems that separate Bamurru Plains from Kakadu brings you to the heart of this country. Rock art galleries reveal stories of Aboriginal people and their ancient culture. Textures of colours, vistas across savannah woodlands and floodplains provide a sense of the spirituality of this ancient landscape.

From rock overhangs and caves at Ubirr Rock (think classic scenes from Crocodile Dundee) to the meandering waters of the East Alligator River that drains from the stone country of Arnhem Land and marks the boundary between Kakadu National Park and Arnhem Land, this day will expose the senses to country that is rich in Aboriginal culture, flora and fauna.

Travelling with Wild Bush Luxury’s field guides in our custom built vehicle, your day will include a bush picnic lunch and the chance to spend time with an Aboriginal guide on the waters of the East Alligator River before returning overland, with a stop at the Bowali Visitor Centre, returning in time for sundowner drinks, canapes and the comfort of the safari lodge as the sun sets over Bamurru Plains.
