      Itinerary

      7th April Barossa Valley Tour

We start the day by collecting you from either Glenelg or Adelaide City at approximately

9.00 am (8.30 am Glenelg) before heading out of the city to the iconic Barossa Valley with history of Adelaide and South Australia told on the way.  We throw in a few stories and jokes as we get to know each other along the way.

Our first winery of the day is Turkey Flat Vineyards, who’s name derives from the Prussian settlers of Bethany and Langmeil in the early 1840s.  They noticed that a large native bird frequented the rich flats located here towards the lower end of the Tanunda Creek.  They called the site ‘Turkey Flat’ as a result.

The bird however was no turkey: it was Ardeotis australis, or the Plains Bustard, which is sadly rarely seen now.  The significance of the bird and the original landscape is on the artwork on their label.  The same landscape supports the vines and gives Turkey Creek the means to make unique, character-filled fine wine.

After some beautiful wine tasting and known for their amazing Rose’, the group moves on to Pindarie, the second winery of the day.

Pindarie Wines is situated on the western edge of the Barossa. Pindarie, an Aboriginal word meaning “hilly place”, is a family-owned and sustainably run property consisting of sheep, pastures and wines.   In their cellar door, a restored grain store and adjacent stables) we experience a guided wine tasting of the full range of their award-winning wines.  Sit and take in the views of the vineyards where the wines are originally sourced and maybe have a glass of your favourite wine over lunch.  Lunch is a beautiful platter of local produce including cheeses, cold meats, freshly baked rolls with a vegetarian option also available.

As we leave Pindarie behind us and make our way further into the heart of the Barossa, we have some time to have a leisurely stroll through the shops and attractions in the historic township of Tanunda, before we head to Seppeltsfield Road Distilling.

At Seppeltsfield Road Distilling we experience a structured tasting paddle of their gins.

Finally, we move on to the last destination of the day, passing through the scenic Seppeltsfield region en-route.

After arriving at Greenock Brewery we have the opportunity to meet the brewer and take a tour of the brewery while enjoying a taste of their beers before we head back to Adelaide for a 5/5.30pm drop off back at your accommodation.
