An adventurous 12-day tour of the West Australian coastline along the Indian Ocean Road - perfect for travellers who love to explore a mixture of wildlife and culture while maintaining a comfortable and relaxed travel style. Meander through The Pinnacles Desert and the Discovery Centre, Visit Kalbarri National Park and be prepared for a great photo opportunity at Natures Window and Z-Bend in the Murchison Gorge where you can take an exhilarating 150m descent into the heart of the gorge. And then, take the unique opportunity to make friends with the local dolphins of Monkey Mia at Shell Beach.
After a Snorkel on the Ningaloo Reef, trek inland to Pilbara and learn about the local mining industry (Tom Price), and then relax in the pristine pools of Karijini National Park. Stay in deluxe eco tents and absorb the Australian outback in all its stunning glory over two days. It's the perfect length of time to explore many of the watering holes and natural poles that make up the National Park.

Day 1 & 2
Pinnacles Desert & Kalbarri National Park
Your first day starts early with a pick up from your allocated meeting points in Perth. Your first exposure to this stunning landscape is to absorb the morning light hitting the iconic Pinnacles in Nambung National Park before continuing your journey through the scenic coastal town of Cervantes and into Geraldton, the second-largest city in WA. We'll pass by the Pink Lakes before arriving in the town of Kalbarri where you'll stay close to the ocean.
This is your chance to challenge your adventurous streak by exploring Nature’s Window and Z-Bend Gorge – an exhilarating 150m descent into the heart of the gorge. or, join a sunset cruise for a more relaxed end to the evening (own expense). (LD/BLD)
Days 3 - 4
Shark Bay World Heritage Area
Today we're heading northbound to Shark Bay World Heritage area where we'll have a relaxing two rights in Monkey Mia Resort. Highlights of these days will be visiting the beautiful Shell Beach – one of only two beaches in the world made entirely from shells and then making friends with the world-famous Monkey Mia dolphins. The adventure just keeps coming as we offer the choice between a free day on the beach or partaking in a sailing adventure in this spectacular nature reserve (optional, at own expense and subject to availability) (BL/BLD)
we have two days of fin and adventure for you. En route to Coral Bay we'll adventure into Hamelin pools to visit the fascinating stromatolites (the world’s oldest living organisms), and then we'll explore the agricultural town of Carnavon, a stunning seaside resort which is famous for its idyllic beach and the underwater world of Ningaloo Reef, laying just offshore. Be active or be relaxed - the choice is yours as we offer exceptional optional activities including glass-bottom boat rides, snorkelling adventures, quad bike rides and more. Should you decide on a more subdued afternoon, then we suggest hiring a snorkelling set and exploring the local marine life or take the opportunity to kick back on the beach, exploring at your own leisure. Karijini National Park
You have two full days to explore one of Australia’s treasures that many travellers rate as their favourite destination— Karijini National Park in the heart of the Pilbar. We'll be staying at the very special Karijini Eco Retreat for a wilderness experience under the amazing outback stars. From cascading waterfalls to canyons, deep gorges and still waterholes that are ideal for swimming, there are endless incredible sights to see and experiences to have. If you’re feeling adventurous, you’ll have the opportunity to join a canyoning tour (at your own expense) on one of these days. You’ll be able to delve into the landscape in a way you otherwise would never experience. Amongst the opportunities, you'll visit Dales Gorge, Fortescue Falls, Fern Pool, Circular Pool, Weano Gorge and Hancock Gorge. BLD/BLD/BLD)
A day of trekking will see us pass through the Pilbara region and stop for an overnight station stay. Along the way, we'll check out the historical township of Port Hedland. (BLD)
Eighty Mile Beach & Broome
It's onwards and upwards towards the beach resort town of Broome in the tropical north of Western Australia's Kimberley coast. Before we arrive, however, we'll stop in for a stroll on Eighty-Mile Beach (220 kilometres in length) halfway between the towns of Broome and Port Hedland - where the Great Sandy Desert meets the Indian Ocean. Then we'll head into Broome where you can do a colourful walking tour with locals, and visit old Pearling Masters whose homes still encourage and support the ginger beer trade.
Afterwards, visit the Japanese Cemetery and Broome Port, the base for many of today’s Pearling vessels. Then take an easy paced walk at Gantheaume Point known for dinosaur footprints and hear the story of Anastasia’s Pool. We then drive down onto Cable Beach for sunset (subject to beach conditions). Relax and enjoy a stroll, or a swim as you watch the sun disappear into the horizon. (BL/No Meals)

Important NotesThings you need to know about this tour
- Itineraries and inclusions can change due to seasonal, cultural or operational restrictions.
- A good level of fitness is required for all tours and activities provided by Real Adventure Group. Some hikes and walks take place over uneven ground and/or a significant distance.
- We can cater for vegetarians, vegans, gluten free and lactose intolerant passengers. Please understand we are on a camping tour so the food you may usually have may not be readily available. Please contact us when booking if you have any specific dietary needs.
- Sleeping Bag required, passengers, bring their own.
- Any alcohol beverages. Passengers are allowed to purchase alcohol to take on tour but this must be bought in can or cask form as bottles (stubbies) will get smashed due to bumpy roads.
- For most departures, the minimum age is 16 years old at the time of travel. Some departures which correspond with Australian School Holidays are open to children from 7 years old, these are called "Family Friendly" departures and are denoted with * in the departure dates above. Children must be travelling with an adult and remain the full responsibility of their parent or adult guardian throughout the duration of the tour, including those under the age of 18 on regular departures. If you are travelling on the Family Friendly dates you do not need to travel with children or be part of a family group, however you should be aware that children may be on these departures
