Tour itinerary - 5 Days

  • Day 1 Hobart to Strahan
We leave Hobart and drive through the Derwent Valley – traveling east to west across the island. Today is our longest driving day but still plenty of time to get outdoors! You’ll see the beautiful Russell Falls and take about an hour or hour and a half hike to explore. Walk among the Mt Field National Park Tall Trees, and visit Australia’s deepest freshwater lake, Lake St Clair. At Lake St Clair you will take another walk to see one of the most beautiful parts of Tasmania. Explore the pristine Franklin-Gordon Wild River National Park and end the day in Strahan. Strahan is a quiet peaceful town, perfect for our first night. Overnight: Strahan
  • Day 2 Wild West Coast
In the untouched wilderness of Tasmania’s West Coast, we will explore the shifting sands of Henty Dunes. Then we continue into the Tarkine Rainforest and walk to Tasmania’s highest waterfall – Montezuma Falls. This is our off the beaten track destination, which is under threat of logging, the walk is 4 hours and a beautiful area. We like to raise awareness of the beauty of in Tarkine so we can protect the forest. If hiking isn't for you today you can choose to join the world-famous Gordon River Cruise (optional, at your own expense). Overnight: Strahan (B)
  • Day 3 Cradle Mountain to Launceston
Around 950m above sea level is the World Heritage-listed Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, where you can choose a walk to suit you. With an extensive range of tracks, stroll around Dove Lake (6km relaxed walk) or challenge yourself with a hike to Marion’s Lookout. A short drive takes us through Sheffield, the ‘town of murals’ and then to Launceston. Overnight: Launceston (B)
  • Day 4 Launceston to Bicheno
We make our way to the East Coast and the beautiful Bay of Fires. Famous for the perfect scenic drives and best beaches! If the conditions are right, this is a great place for a swim. Or take a short hike. Tasmania’s most scenic coastal drive takes you from St Helens to Bicheno where we meet the iconic Tasmanian devil as we stop at a wildlife sanctuary (entry price included). Of course plenty of other famous native Australian animals at the sanctuary. This evening you may choose to join a viewing experience of the Little Penguins (optional at your own expense and seasonal). (B)
  • Day 5 Freycinet National Park to Hobart
An early start means we are the first to the Wineglass Bay lookout, beating the crowds and the heat for that postcard photo. Walk 45 minutes to the lookout point and back. If you are feeling more active take the walk down to the secluded beach for a quick swim or relax. Or most popular choose the more challenging hike to Mt Amos or a beach walk. We continue our journey south passing the coastal villages of Swansea and Orford before arriving back to Hobart. (B)
