This is a huge day out on the stunning Tasmanian east coast. Wineglass Bay has been voted many times amongst the top beaches of the world. From the car park, Wineglass Bay lookout is a moderate 45 minute (1.5km) hike, one way. If you are a keen walker you can head down from the Wineglass Bay look out to the beach itself, a 2 and a half hour hike, well worth it.

  • Day 1 Wineglass Bay and Freycinet National Park
    Travel from Hobart heading east then following the coastline north. You will travel through the seaside towns of Orford and Swansea. Enjoy a brief stop at Spiky Bridge, a convict built bridge, picturesque Spiky Beach and then on into the National Park. Walk as a group to the Wineglass Bay Lookout where your guide will help you take those sought after photographs and offer you some walking options for the day. For the keen walkers you can continue the walk down to Wineglass beach (2.5 hr return) or even continue onto the Hazards Beach Circuit (4hrs). Travel with your guide to explore more of the National Park and visit Honeymoon Bay, Sleepy Bay and Cape Tourville lookout and short walk. After a very full 4–5 hours at Freycinet National Park we begin the trip back to Hobart. With one last coastal gem we stop at Friendly Beaches, a fabulous highlight, as we leave the beaches and bays behind. We have a brief stop at the Freycinet Marine Farm for anyone interested in sampling the local oysters, mussels or crayfish fresh from the pristine waters. Last but certainly not least we stop at the very famous Kate’s Berry Farm where Kate is serving up absolutely delicious Berry Ice-creams and other delights, jams, sauces, chocolates and jellies. You will return to Hobart to your accommodation around 7.00pm.

Things you need to know about this tour

Suitable for children over 8 years old. Our tours are designed as full active days of fast-paced travel, we are also at times exposed to the outdoor conditions of the day. Tours are suitable for adults and older children with travel/outdoor experience.

All tours depart either Hobart at 7.30am. We recommend arriving in Tasmania the day before you are due to start your tour. Travelling from Hobart or Launceston airport to your city accommodation is very easy. Arriving into Hobart  All flight arrivals to Hobart  Airport are met by taxis and the Airport Shuttle Bus. The drive time is around 15-20 minutes from each airport to their central city areas.

On all tours, we offer a central city hotel or backpacker hostel pick up.  We have a defined hotel pick up the list.  If your hotel or accommodation is not listed then we will pick up from the nearest hotel from our listing or from a general pick up location.  We do not offer a pick up from residential addresses or from Air BnB accommodation.  

We do not supply lunch, snacks or beverages on our tours but we do stop along the way for you to purchase food to suit your budget and taste. This is usually a Bakery style stop in a regional town along the way to the main destination for the day. You will then be able to enjoy a lunch break during the tour day, usually somewhere scenic and suitable for a rest stop. You are also welcome of course to bring along a packed lunch to enjoy on the day. If you have special dietary requirements it may be better to bring your own prepared lunch /snacks.

We operate small group Active Day Tours using Toyota Commuter and Toyota Coaster vehicles.  These seat maximum passengers of 13 or 20 respectively.
