Cairns to Cooktown
You will be collected by our air-conditioned (4WD) vehicle and travel north along the Captain Cook Highway, one of Australia’s most scenic coastal drives towards the World Heritage Listed Daintree National Park, crossing the mighty Daintree River by cable ferry.
You will Journey through some of Mother Nature’s best work, which contains the highest number of plant and animal species in the world which are rare, or threatened by extinction but survive here in the virgin rainforests of Tropical North Queensland.
The morning tea stop is at “Heritage Lodge" in Cape Tribulation. Continue north as your experienced guide will enlighten your journey with incredible stories and history of the 4WD only Bloomfield Track.
This will take you through some of the most incredible scenery in Tropical North Queensland and Australia. Crossing rivers and climbing mountain ranges. We stop for lunch at the famous Lion’s Den Hotel (est. 1875), one of North Queensland’s oldest running bush pubs.
Continue to the unique geological oddity, which is Black Mountain, surrounded in mystery and spoken of in ancient Aboriginal legend.
Arriving in Cooktown make sure you have your camera ready for 360 degree panoramic views from Grassy Hill of Cooktown, the Coral Sea and the Endeavour River. Transfer to your chosen overnight accommodation in Cooktown.
Cooktown to Cairns
Free Day to explore Cooktown or take the optional Aboriginal Rock Art tour with Guurrbi Tours- award winning Aboriginal Elder, Willie Gordon.
Visit theWorld Class James Cook Museum or stroll along the shores of the Endeavour River. The unique charm and historic atmosphere of the main street still prevails.
You can experience the unspoilt beauty of the area, which remains much the same as when Captain Cook knew it in 1770. Late this afternoon we depart Cooktown via the inland road, The Mulligan Highway, travelling through a diverse landscape of cattle stations and the Palmer River Gold mine region, which is the Outback of Far North Queensland.
Stop for dinner (at your own expense) at the authentic Queenslander pub in the old mining town of Mount Carbine.
Your tour comes to a completion as you are taken to your accommodation in Cairns or Port Douglas.

You must be able to walk on unpaved or uneven terrain. If you have limited mobility, you should not take part.
At least 4 people are required for this activity to take place. Maximum group size is 16 people.
Hotel pick-up is available from most centrally located Cairns and Port Douglas hotels. Please arrange pick-up from your hotel or a nearby location when you call to confirm your reservation.
Pick-up begins at 6:30 AM in Cairns and 8 AM in Port Douglas. You will receive confirmation of your exact tour departure time when you call to confirm your reservation.
