If you are heading to Cape Tribulation and the Daintree Rainforest from Cairns we always recommend, if time permits, to stay overnight in the jungle and experience a little more of what Far North Queensland has to offer.

Cape Tribulation is the oldest living rainforest in the world, home to much native Flora and Fauna. Have you ever heard of the Cassowary or seen a tree kangaroo in the wild? Here the rainforest meets the reef, with two World Heritage sites coming together. The Great Barrier Reef and the 110 million year old Daintree Rainforest.

We have a selection of accommodation choices on our 2 day and 3 day overnight trips to Cape Tribulation and it can be confusing to know which one to choose.

Cape Tribulation Beach House Retreat

This retreat is funky and rustic and nestled deep within the Daintree Rainforest on seven acres of absolute beach frontage. Its the true tropical experience. The resort has a restaurant and a self cook kitchen for those on a budget, laundry and most importantly a pool and sundeck. There are many optional activities that can be done on your days in the jungle including horse riding, snorkelling, sea kayaking and night walks. These can all be booked on site by the helpful reception staff. At Cape Trib Beach House there are a few different types of room types, all located metres away from secluded, pristine beaches. There are beachfront or Rainforest cabins and the standard dorm share rooms. All the rooms have air conditioners, fans and insect screens.

Pk's Jungle Village

All rooms at Pk's are set in the lush rainforest and made of airy timber. This property is well known for the great bar and is probably the most fun and social of the choices in Cape Tribulation. All dorms are 5-8 share and have air conditioning. There is a supermarket on site with groceries and toiletries to buy, so you can cook in the communal kitchen if you want to.

Ferntree Rainforest Lodge

Ferntree's has a large range of accommodation including the pool side, private cabin or the budget dormitory. their most popular and our favourite is the split level garden loft. These air conditioned cabins are right in the middle of the rainforest garden. A really unique setting for your nights sleep. The Castaway Cafe on site is open overnight with fantastic meals, including vegetarian and gluten free options. A real gem in the jungle.
