Upon your arrival into Sydney choose to unwind and relax or explore the city. How you spend today is at your choosing, just ensure you make your way to Wake Up Sydney Central, 509 Pitt Street for the night, also where you will be met on the morning of day two. Costs associated with all activities, meals and accommodation transfers on this day are not included.
Sydney to Barrington Tops
Nice early start around 745am at Wake Up. Today we travel to the scenic Hunter Valley, an area renowned for its local produce. Get a taste of what makes this region so famous, and enjoy a wine tasting at one of Australia’s finest vineyards. Ensure you have your camera on hand as we travel to our next stop, World Heritage listed Barrington Tops National park. Overlooking the valley, you will gain an appreciation for the area’s serenity and lush forests. If that's not enough, opt for an included inner tube ride through the Barrington river itself! To finish off today, you’ll spend a night in a private lodge with scenic views of the Barrington River.
Barrington Tops to Spot X Surf Camp
Today offers an experience like no other; the chance to view some of Australia’s most wonderful wildlife, including Kangaroos, platypus and a variety of native birds. We begin with a morning bushwalk and then head north to a wildlife hospital that specializes in the conservation and preservation of Australia's Koala species. This rare opportunity will give you the chance to see what’s being done to ensure their ongoing survival. Tonight we leave the country behind and travel to our beachside accommodation at Spot X Surf Camp. (B,D)
Spot X Surf Camp to River Retreat
This morning you can take part in a group surf lesson or just relax on the beach. In the
afternoon we travel to our River Retreat. We go for a guided kayaking trip spotting wildlife
along the way. In the evening have a few drinks around the campfire. We sleep in beds in a
tipi or swags under the stars. Note: in winter we stay in cabins. (B, D).
River Retreat to Byron Bay
Up next we head towards relaxed, beach town Byron Bay. The journey boasts a great range of scenery, including idyllic Yamba, where we’ll take a break along the way. Here we’ll visit the region's renowned Angourie blue pools, choose to swim, soak up the sun or enjoy a scenic walk (weather dependent). (B)
Free Day in Byron Bay
Soak up all that Byron has to offer by exploring its trendy town, white sand beaches or spending the afternoon pleasing your taste buds at one of Byron’s rustic cafe’s. If you’re up for more exploration, opt for a trip to nearby Nimbin, or take a bicycle trip to Byron’s famous lighthouse; with views not to be missed!
Byron Bay (via Gold Coast & Brisbane) to Rainbow Beach
We leave Byron behind and cruise the coast, with a stop at Point Danger along the way. Here you can watch the waves roll in at Snapper Rock, a surf spot loved by locals and tourists alike. Cruising through the Gold Coast, Brisbane and Noosa, you will truly understand why Australia is famous for its idyllic coastlines and awe inspiring views. Today’s venture ends at Rainbow beach, where we’ll choose to take a walk to Carlo Sand Blow to view an Australian sunrise or sunset with a view like no other.
Day 8 and 9
Rainbow Beach to Fraser Island
Get ready for two full days of exploring World Heritage Fraser Island. After a short 10-minute ferry ride from Rainbow Beach you start your adventure of four-wheel-driving on the roads of sand. During your stay on Fraser you will have the chance to spot dingoes in the wild, swim in crystal clear freshwater lakes and swimming holes and explore the diverse landscapes in this unique habitat.
Before heading to bed don’t forget to look up to enjoy the millions of stars and maybe even spot the five stars on the Aussie flag – the Southern Cross. In the late afternoon of day eight your guide will return you to your Rainbow accommodation where you have dinner included. DAY 8 – (L,D). Day 9 – (B,L,D)
Today to witness some of the spectacular marine wildlife the Fraser Coast is famous for. You will be treated to a dolphin-watching kayak tour and Great Beach 4WD ride within the Great Sandy National Park. We have a three-hour tour so you have the chance of seeing Bottlenose dolphins, Humpback whales (May to November), turtles, manta rays, sting rays, soldier crabs and an array of marine birdlife.
With views to amaze and scenery to explore, enjoy a day to yourself relaxing by the pool or venturing along the beautiful Rainbow Beach. Your guide will not be in present on this day. (D).
Rainbow Beach (via Noosa) to Country Campout
Today you will take in the scenery by bus and train as we travel to Cooroy and then Rockhampton. Enjoy a unique and unforgettable Australian experience tonight, with a remote farm stay and a scrumptious campfire dinner. (D)
Country Campout/Emu Park to Airlie Beach
We begin today with a visit to a sacred Indigenous site that sits beneath the teeming terrain of Mount Wheeler. We then leave the mountainous plain for the coastal culture of Emu Park. This tiny town has so much to offer, including a wonderful resort where we will stay tonight. Opt to search the beach for freshly hatched turtle eggs in the hope of seeing a baby turtle scamper across the sand (seasonal), relax by the pool or for an additional cost; play lawn bowls or see the largest reptiles in the world at a nearby crocodile farm! We travel comfortably by overnight train and prepare for your next destination; Airlie Beach. Here you can store your belongings ahead of your Whitsunday Islands day trip tomorrow. (B)
Whitsunday Islands, snorkelling, coral reef and Whitehaven Beach
Today we journey to wonderful Whitehaven Beach. This area supports a diverse range of marine life including colourful corals and fish found only in Australia! You’ll have the opportunity to snorkel in crystal clear waters and enjoy a walk to Whitehaven lookout, which offers awe inspiring views of paradise-like Pentecost Island. Conclude a memorable day with a meal at one of the region's famous restaurants.(L)

Airlie Beach (via Townsville) to Magnetic Island
Enjoy a ferry ride to the magical Magnetic or ‘Maggie’ Island. Your guide will join you as you explore all the island has to offer before giving you free time to personalise your stay. Magnetic Island boasts an abundance of flora and fauna, so why not hire a snorkel and get up close and personal with sea turtles, tropical fish and rays? Or, pick up a map from our accommodation and choose to take one of many wilderness walks.

Today is at your choosing! Opt to relax or meet Koala’s, Kangaroo's and more of Australia’s unique wildlife at the Resorts Wildlife centre (additional cost). Your guide will not be with you on this day.
Magnetic Island to Tully Rainforest
Travel back to the mainland on a ferry and then travel by train to Tully – getting in at around
lunchtime. In the afternoon we head out to picturesque ‘Alligator’s Nest’ (no alligators
thankfully). Enjoy a dip in the swimming hole, surrounded by tropical rainforest. We then
head back to our accommodation - the historic Mt Tyson pub for dinner. (D)
Tully to Cairns
We have an early start to hike to the summit of Mt Tyson, a mountain covered in lush
rainforest, within the Tully Gorge National Park. We take selfies and time to get to get our
breath back at summit, then head down to the pub again for a well-earned champagne
We then travel back to Tully to catch the train north, arriving into Cairns central train station at
approximately 4.05pm, where your East Coast adventure comes to an end. (B)
Free day Cairns
Capture the essence of Cairns and enjoy a day of exploration. If visiting one of the seven wonders of the natural word sounds like your kind of day; take a boat trip to the gorgeous Great Barrier Reef and snorkel or dive amongst tropical corals and fish. Adrenalin junkies can zip line through the tropical rainforests, skydive, try white water rafting or even give hot air ballooning a go! Fly from Cairns to Alice Springs
We leave behind the pristine white sands for the renowned red dirt of the Australian Outback today! Today's flight will need to be pre-purchased and secured on your own behalf. Present your travel voucher and get to Haven Alice Springs by plane for just 13 AUD. All meals, activities and your flight are not included today and you will not be accompanied by your guide on this day.
Alice Springs to Uluru
Today we travel to one of Australia's natural Icons; Uluru. Upon our arrival into Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, we visit a camel farm and get a taste of what life was like back when Australia was first settled. Choose to enjoy a camel ride at an additional cost. We then arrive at Uluru, this gigantic gem of the region is believed to be over 700 million years old! We enjoy a walk around the base of the sandstone structure and visit the cultural centre to gain an appreciation of its religious importance to the Aboriginal people of Australia. Uluru is known for it’s awe-inspiring sunsets of warm reds, purples and yellows so tonight have your camera’s on hand! We stay at a private campsite in the middle of the Outback for a real Aussie experience! (L,D)
Uluru to Kings Creek Station
Awake to an unforgettable Uluru sunrise, before we embark to Kata Tjuta (The Olgas). Here we view another of Australia's geological phenomena; the Domes. Water packed and hiking shoes on, we traverse through the ‘Valley of Winds’ walk, passing creeks, domes and embrace the wonderful Australian Outback. We leave Uluru behind and head to Kings Creek Station and camp in the peaceful surrounds of the Australian Outback. (B, L, D)
Kings Creek Station to Alice Springs via Kings Canyon
Today we travel to Watarrka (Kings Canyon) National Park, a region that boasts a range of geographic phenomena. You’ll have the chance to see a famous chasm; gigantic rock walls that create a thin walkway home to lush greenery and native wildlife. Pack your comfiest shoes today, as we visit the amphitheatre, lost city and the blissful garden of Eden. Tonight you will return to Haven at Alice springs where you can relax and unwind after an action packed day. (B, L)
Alice Springs to Banka Banka via Devils Marbles
Today we truly embrace the Territory. We’ll head north passing rugged plains and red Earth before stopping at the Devils Marbles, a scientific phenomenon! Be sure to take lots of photos! Tonight we’ll set up camp at Banka Banka Cattle station where we will camp beneath the stars and witness a gorgeous sunset of warm reds and yellows. (B, L, D).
Banka Banka to Mataranka
Live like the locals and visit Daly Waters Pub, a popular destination for a refreshing beverage and a place to get a taste of local history! We then take you to the crystalline waters of Mataranka Thermal pools. This natural oasis is encircled by thriving trees and palms and makes for the perfect swimming spot.(B,L,D).
Mataranka to Darwin
After a short drive we arrive at picturesque Nitmiluk National Park. Here the Katherine river has carved through ancient sandstone creating a valley between overhang by cliffs and rocks. This gorgeous scenery is best appreciated by boat or canoe, so opt for either (at an additional cost) and make sure you have your camera on hand! We then travel to the capital of the Northern Territory; Darwin. (B,L)

Discover Darwin by exploring its natural landscapes, enjoying the vibrant cafe culture, hitting the shops or relaxing in a swimming lagoon- it’s up to you! Please note that your guide will not be available on this day and that todays meal and activity costs are not included in the tour.
Darwin to Kakadu National Park via Mary River Wetlands
Today we embrace life in the Northern Territory with a wildlife cruise through the magnificent Mary River Wetlands! You’ll glide through the water by boat, see Saltwater crocodiles; the largest reptile on Earth, and hear the calls of over 250 species of birds!
We enjoy a picnic lunch beneath the trees and then enter world renowned Kakadu National park. Treat yourself with a take home souvenir from Bowali Visitor Centre before we arrive in Ubirr. You’ll have the unique opportunity to view traditional Aboriginal artworks and have them explained by your guide. Your guide will also tell you the story of the Rainbow Serpent. Next up, we see for ourselves just how vast and boundless this region is, from Nadab lookout. Enjoy dinner before we sleep at our secluded campsite. (L,D)
Kakadu National Park to Mount Bundy
Today we visit the largest national park in Australia; Kakadu National Park. We ditch the bitchumen for gravel road and travel by 4WD and then boat before arriving at secluded Twin Falls, a gem of the Kakadu region. We then continue todays adventure with a walk through rocky outcrops and dense bush that lead us to Jim Jim Falls. This natural oasis provides the perfect playground for our afternoon. We leave the world famous landscapes of Kakadu behind tonight, with an overnight stay close to tomorrow's location. (B,L,D)
Litchfield National Park to Darwin
Today we venture through Litchfield National park. We’ll encounter much native wildlife, swim
beneath the cascading Florence and Wangi Falls (water level dependent) and discover the naturally carved swimming pools of the Buley Rockhole. You’ll also get the opportunity to view the weirdly wonderful magnetic termite mound and the towering Cathedral mound which stands at over 4m tall! We depart for Darwin in the early evening and you’ll enjoy your final night reminiscing over your month long journey through Australia. (B, L).

Important NotesThings you need to know about this tour
- **Although the group you are travelling with will not exceed 24 passengers, a number of the activities including the cruise in the Whitsundays, four-wheel-drive touring on Fraser Island, rail journey and dolphin cruise are not exclusive to the group. You will travel with additional people and will have larger group sizes on those days. You will also travel with guides specific to those activities, rather than your Loka or Wayoutback Safaris guide.
- As this is a tour package, your guide and group will change throughout your journey. On the section between Sydney and Cairns you will travel on Loka transport with Loka guides. While you will have a fixed pre-arranged itinerary, other Loka customers on a more flexible pass will hop on and off throughout the trip.
- Optional activity prices are subject to change
- *Please note that Twin and Jim Jim Falls are both seasonal attractions (usually June to November) and access to them is dictated by National Parks at the time of travel. During the time when they are not open they will be substituted with locations such as Gunlom, Maguk (Barramundi Falls), Yurmikmik or Gubara Springs.
- Itinerary may change due to cultural reasons, seasonal changes, operational logistics and accessibility.
- For the Top End and Red Centre safaris please restrict luggage to a day pack and one soft overnight bag/backpack (maximum 10kg) as the majority of your luggage can be stored at your accommodation. For the Darwin <> Alice Springs and Cairns <> Sydney safaris, a maximum of 23kg in a soft bag or suitcase plus a small day pack is permitted.
- Swags are used as standard on nights 20 and 21. Clients wishing to hire a dome tent will need to pre-book this and pay a $60 local payment on departure from Alice Springs.
- Single travelers will be paired with another customer of the same gender on the camping nights
- This is an open-aged tour, however most passengers are between the ages of 18-39
