All about the 6 day / 6 night Solway Lass Sailing Adventure
Cruise of the Whitsunday Islands aboard the 2 Masted 110 year old Tall Ship Solway Lass, a square rigged tall ship with 10 sails. Cruises explore the islands and allows you to snorkel or dive on the Fringing Coral Reefs which surround the Islands.
Solway Lass has an amazing history being built in Holland in 1902, 1st registered in Hamburg, serving for Britain as a ‘Q’ Ship in WWI and a supply ship for Germany in WWII.
Named Solway Lass after the Solway Firth in Scotland where she carried cargo to Liverpool and Dublin. Solway Lass was Sydney’s Tall Ship from 1985 to 1999, participating in the 1st fleet re-enactment in 1988.
Today beautifully restored and maintained and perfect for Whitsunday Cruising with comfortable guest accommodation. This ship has private air conditioned cabins appointed with brass lamps, cedar and oak timbers.

For guests who wish to Scuba Dive, we rendezvous with our Dive Boat at one of the Fringing Coral Reef locations and optional introductory or certified dives are available
Guests are welcome to join in and help set the massive sails or just relax and enjoy the sailing experience from a bygone era
There is space to relax on the Upper Sunbathing Deck or sit in the shade on the mid deck area and enjoy a good book, an icy cold beer or wine from the bar
Relax out in the bow net and watch the water lap the front of the ship
While at anchor try the tarzan swing, a unique way to enter the water
6 day / 6 night Solway Lass Sailing Adventure Itinerary - 6 days
Check in at our office, Shop 1, 4 Airlie Esplanade Airlie Beach by 4.30pm. After check-in, guests are welcome to leave there luggage in our office, prior to the shuttle transfer to the Marina. Guests may then explore Airlie Beach, grab a bite to each, enjoy a walk along the beach. Courtesy pickups from Airlie Beach at 6.40pm for transfer to the marina. Depart the marina at 7.30pm and sail to overnight anchorage. Light supper is served around 9.30pm.
After Breakfast, make way to Tongue Bay for a guided bush walk to the Hill Inlet Lookout. A spectacular lookout over looking Whitehaven Beach. Back on board Solway Lass enjoy lunch before heading around to Whitehaven Beach. Enjoy an hour on the beach before setting sail and heading north along the eastern side of Hook Island. Overnight anchor in one of the many bays on Hook Island.
Snorkel and Swim
After Breakfast enjoy snorkelling and/or an optional Scuba Dive on the fringing coral reefs which extend right from the edge of the islands. Enjoy lunch, before sailing off to another anchorage for a second snorkel, swim or simply relax at the beach. This evening will be spent anchored in Blue Pearl Bay of Hayman Island or in the Langford Reef Area. Both locations offer spectacular sunset photo opportunities as the Solway Lass is silhouetted against the sunset over the water.
After Breakfast enjoy snorkelling, swimming or relaxing on the beach before lunch. At around 1:00pm set sail and sail across the Whitsunday Passage arriving back to the marina around 4.00pm with the courtesy shuttle transfer arriving back to Airlie Beach around 4.30pm. Take shuttle to town, enjoy a meal (voucher supplied) at a local restaurant in Airlie, before transfer back to marina at 6:40pm. Depart marina at 7:40pm and head to overnight stop.

Please note that families with children under 18 wanting to sleep in a muti-share cabin aboard Solway Lass must pay for exclusive use of that cabin. Explore Whitsundays will not allow other passengers outside of the family to share a cabin with children under 18, even under the supervision of their parents/guardians.
